Why FAR Infrared Vs. Traditional Saunas?
Unlike traditional saunas, which rely on heat to warm the air and your body, infrared saunas use infrared light to directly heat your body. This unique heating method offers a number of advantages over traditional saunas that make them a better choice for many people.
Infrared saunas operate at temperatures between 120-140°F while traditional saunas reach temps up to 200°F making it difficult to stay in more than a few minutes.
Because infrared saunas use light to heat the body directly, the heat penetrates deeper into the body than traditional sauna heat. This can provide benefits such as improved circulation, muscle and joint pain relief, and decreased inflammation. The deep penetration of heat can also help to detoxify the body more effectively, as it helps to flush out toxins from deep within the cells.
Because infrared saunas use lower temperatures, they are generally more comfortable to use than traditional saunas. With traditional saunas, you often have to take breaks to cool down, but with infrared saunas, you can stay in for longer periods of time without feeling overheated. This makes it easier to relax and achieve the benefits of sauna therapy.
Infrared saunas are generally less expensive than traditional saunas. They come in a variety of sizes and types, allowing you to choose one that fits your needs and budget. Furthermore, they are also typically less expensive to operate as they consume less energy.
Infrared saunas are considered to be safer than traditional saunas because they do not heat the air, making them less likely to cause burns or other injuries. They are also less likely to cause dehydration, which can be a problem with traditional saunas.
When combined, FAR infrared sauna therapy and red light therapy can provide even greater health benefits.
The heat from the sauna can help to open up blood vessels, allowing the red and near-infrared light to penetrate deeper into the body and reach the cells and mitochondria.
This can help to increase the effectiveness of the light therapy and speed up the healing process.
Bought a 2 person hemlock sauna from the boat show. Bradley came and installed it, he was a very nice fella. We use the sauna weekly and love how much we sweat in it. Such a nice thing to be able to use at home! Five Stars.

I purchased my sauna as a recommendation from my chiropractor. It has worked wonders for the pain that I feel on a daily basis. I listen to podcasts while I sit in the sauna and if a day goes by where I don’t use it, I can tell.

I like this sauna a lot. It is perfect for what I need it for. I'm on a smoothie cleanse 10 day challenge and so it helps me release the toxins. I like to dry brush before I go in.

FAQs
No, HealthSmart Saunas are very user friendly. The sauna snaps together very easily with a male and female bracket system and does not require any special plumbing, venting, or tools. The only tool required is a screwdriver to secure the cover on the roof. Assembly may take 20-60 minutes.
HealthSmart Saunas are not recommended for outdoor use because the elements (rain and snow) will cause damage to the wood and the electronics located in the roof of the sauna. A special cover can be ordered if you choose to put your sauna outdoors. NOTE: HealthSmart will not honor the warranty if the sauna has been outside, regardless if you have a cover or not.
The 2 Person can be plugged into your normal 110/120 15 amp outlet. The 3 Person and 4 Person size needs a dedicated 110/120 20 amp outlet.
HealthSmart Saunas require minimal maintenance. Before using your sauna for the first time, clean the inside with a damp cloth. Use towels on the bench and on the floor to absorb perspiration during your sauna session. (Aways take the towels out when you are done with your session.) To clean perspiration stains, use a mild liquid soap with warm water (best when applied with a scrub brush). Scratches and difficult stains can be removed by using a fine grade of sandpaper over the affected area. Inspect benches regularly for any required maintenance.
This varies with each individual. Always consult with your doctor if you have health issues or concerns. As with any form of exercise, it's important to build up tolerance. We recommend beginning your sauna session at 15-20 minutes per day, three (3) times a week. Once your body is conditioned to it, gradually increase the length of your session by 15 minutes intervals. The most effective temperature range is between 115F-130F. These are tolerable temperatures resulting in a more comfortable, relaxed session that will allow you to enjoy more time in your sauna. Stay hydrated! Make sure to drink water consistently during your sauna session.
HealthSmart offers offers both cedar and hemlock, the most popular woods used to manufacture infrared saunas. We have found that half of our customers prefer Canadian/Alaskan hemlock and half prefer Canadian red cedar. People base their decision on the following criteria: the price difference and the color of the wood. Some people feel the aromatic cedar smell reminds them of a traditional sauna. A small percentage of people have allergic reactions to cedar oil and preform the non-allergenic hemlock.
Hemlock is a light wood, blonde in color, making it perfect for any decor. It adds a touch of class to the room. Hemlock is a soft wood used by many sauna companies. It is an excellent wood for people with allergies. Hemlock wood is a little more dense than cedar, making it heavier than cedar. As an example, a cedar sauna that weighs 400 pounds would weigh 450 pounds using hemlock wood.
Cedar Wood Saunas: • Canadian Red Cedar tree • Dark colored wood • Natural cedar aroma • Cedar oil may cause allergic reaction in a small percentage of sensitive people • Non-toxic
Canadian Red Cedar is darker in color, which adds elegance to your home decor. It is renowned for its aromatic features, as well as its ability to withstand climate changes and moisture. Cedar resists cracking and splitting caused by the heating up and cooling down in the sauna. The cedar oil is a natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial property of the cedar wood.
No, infrared saunas are very energy efficient. For example, the HealthSmart 2-person model uses only 1600 watts of power and energy efficient LED lighting. If you use your sauna five (5) days a week for two (2) hours per day, it should only add about $5.00 - $10.00 to your monthly electric bill.
